Meaningful Use

In the summer of 2010, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released Stage 1 "Meaningful Use" criteria in an effort to encourage adoption of technology within health systems and hospitals nationwide. These requirements are the first wave of regulatory mandates that will fundamentally change the way hospitals and health systems provide patient care.

What We Do

We define a roadmap and adoption strategy for our clients to assist them in establishing meaningful use of electronic medical records. Through the efficient, cost-effective use of technology, we help our clients develop long-term solutions by leveraging their existing investments in technology, and making targeted recommendations of complimentary new, adaptable, vendor-agnostic systems.

How We Do It

Our methodology is to begin with a thorough assessment of our client’s existing medical and IT infrastructure; hardware, software, interoperability, vendor/service provider relationships and existing contracts, and overall current progress toward establishment of Meaningful Use. We further assess the client’s existing organizational workflow, including interdepartmental communication, reporting and oversight.

After establishing this baseline, we organize interdepartmental meetings to create task forces critical to implementation; focusing on the question – "where are we now, where do we want to be, and how will we get there?" This information is then assimilated into The Barcenas Group workflow and critical path implementation model; one that has been successfully deployed by our clients.
